Navigating the Numbers: Top Android Map Apps in Latin America Q1 2021

In the first quarter of 2021, Latin America saw significant activity in the Navigation and Maps category on the Android platform. Data compiled by Sensor Tower provides insights into how the top applications in this category performed during this period.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic, despite not generating any revenue, maintained a strong presence with downloads peaking at 360K in the last week of December 2020 and ending at 262K in the last week of March 2021. Weekly active users for Waze started at 5.5M and saw a slight downward trend to 4.4M by the end of March.

Google Earth experienced a steady performance in downloads, beginning with 103K and peaking at 119K in the last week of January, before ending the quarter at 88K. The app's weekly active users showed a gradual increase from 790K to 822K in early March, before a slight decrease to 787K by the quarter's end.

GPS, Maps, Voice Navigation showed revenue figures, albeit small, ranging from $302 to $167 throughout the quarter. Downloads for the app saw a decline from 73K to 49K, while weekly active users fluctuated, ending the quarter with a slight increase from 177K to 135K.

GPS Maps, Navigation & Traffic also generated revenue, with the highest at $208 in early January, dropping to $104 by the end of March. Downloads hit a high of 73K in mid-January but then fell to 14K by the quarter's close. Active users followed a similar trend, peaking at 83K and dipping to 38K.

Lastly, Navigation for Google Maps Go did not generate revenue but had a consistent download rate, starting at 29K and decreasing to 21K. Weekly active users showed an incremental increase from 68K to 70K in mid-February, before dropping to 56K at the end of March.
